This starter kit is everything you need to get you mowing, sharpening and maintaining a fine edge on the blade. It comes with the Ash-wood snath (handle), the 55 cm flower blade, whetstone, a plastic whetstone sheath, and the Picard peening anvil and hammer..

The 55 cm scythe comes with a snath made of ash wood by Fux in Austria. I have them in two sizes to suit the height of the scythe user. (I will establish what size snath you need after you place your order.)
They are also adjustable to seven places on each grip for finer detail.

The 55cm Flower Blade is good for around the tight spots, and those rank clumps of grass late in the season. Also the best blade to learn on. Ideal for trimming around the orchard trees and along the fence-line. I call it the "trimming" blade.

The 55 cm Flower is a good companion the the 75 cm Black blade; A good combination for the trimming around the obstacles, and bringing in the hay.

"Flower"is the name given to these gold blades by the factory. Some people call them "Ditch" blades.

The Picard Freehand Anvil is the tool for those who have a little more experience at peening than the peening jig users. Unlike the jig, this anvil requires a little more skill to learn but gives the user more manipulation of bevel angle and allows for the mending of damage. This anvil MUST be used with the Picard hammer, or a similar polished-faced peening hammer. Someone with a modicum of engineering experience can teach themself how to use this anvil if they are aware of what they set out to achieve.
